11 Days Trek To Rush Lake

We will depart from Islamabad early in the morning, driving through Haripur and Mansehra to join the famous Karakoram Highway (KKH) at Thakot. A true marvel of modern engineering, the KKH is being jointly reconstructed by the FWO and our Chinese partners. Stretching over 887 kilometers from Thakot to Khunjerab, the highway meanders through some of the most breathtaking mountain landscapes.

Our first stop after Thakot will be to view the FWO monument, followed by a lunch break in either Besham or Mansehra. Afterward, we will continue along the legendary Shahrah-e-Resham toward Chilas, where spectacular scenery will accompany us every step of the way. Along the route, we will pass two major under-construction dams, Dassu and Diamer-Basha, both of which are significant infrastructure projects.

In the evening, we will arrive at our destination for an overnight stay at a hotel in Chilas (Shangrila Hotel or Gilgit Hotel), where we can relax after a long day of driving (approximately 12-14 hours).

Upon reaching Gilgit, we will enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing our journey towards the stunning Hunza Valley, located about 100 kilometers away. Along the way, we will stop at the historic Old Silk Road and the Rakaposhi Viewpoint (7,788 meters), where you'll have the chance to capture breathtaking photographs of the majestic peak.

Afterward, we will drive to Hoper Valley, known for its awe-inspiring views of the Hopper Glacier. The valley offers spectacular scenery, making it a perfect spot to soak in the natural beauty of the region. From Hoper Valley, we will begin our trek to Rush Lake, a serene and pristine destination nestled in the mountains.

In the evening, we will return to the valley for an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel, ready to rest before the trek ahead.

Trekking Day 1: Hopper Valley to Baricho Kor Camp (3,300 m) | 5-6 hours | ~ 12 km

Today marks the beginning of our trek as we depart from Hopper Valley, heading towards Baricho Kor Camp. Our route will take us through the Hoper and Miyar Glaciers, offering dramatic views of the rugged landscape and towering peaks. After a 5-6 hour trek, we will arrive at the Baricho Kor Camp.

Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a well-deserved lunch and take some time to rest and recharge. Afterward, we'll continue our trek to Baricho Kor, where we will set up camp for the night. The evening will be spent enjoying a hearty dinner around the campfire, before retiring to rest under the stars.

Trekking day 2 : Baricho Kor Camp - Chiden Harai Camp ( 4,400 m) / 6 hr. / ~ 5 km.

Chiden Harai Camp - Rush Lake Camp ( 4,700 m) +/- Rush Peak (5,098 m) / 2-8 hr. / 2-8 km.
